MUSIC CONNECTS US 🫶🏼 There is an extreme power in music and we want to highlight how important this is as we support “No Justice 4 Grenfell, No Peace” as the community come together 💚. Yesterday, Grenfell campaigners gathered near the Wall of Truth, Grenfell Tower to launch a new track entitled ‘No Justice4Grenfell, No Peace’, which has been created on behalf of the community by local music producer Toddla T and rapper Big Zuu as they express themselves as artists and speak up on this cause. The track, which was released on Spotify yesterday with all proceeds going to Justice4Grenfell and the Hope Garden, has been created to “turn up the volume” on the government, after 6.5 years of inaction. Justice 4 Grenfell group organiser Yvette Williams said, “6.5 years on, with countless peaceful protests and a shamefully delayed public Inquiry report, it is clear that being quiet doesn’t work. So maybe if we are loud, the government will hear us. Maybe if we are loud they will listen and serve justice to the 72+ who died needlessly in our community that night on 14th June 2017.” Big Zuu, who wrote lyrics that encapsulate the frustration and desperation of a community who feel forgotten and neglected by the government and judicial system, performed the track with Toddla T. A couple of weeks ago, Riot collaborated with @saveoursceneuk @culturecallingcampaign and @masquenada.ldn to deliver a truly HISTORIC event. Over 50 artists across 6 cities came together as one, to highlight that our culture is something that can’t be closed down. Over 100 Independent nightclubs have closed their doors in the last 12 months alone and there is no sign that things will get easier for struggling venue owners and operators. 🪩 RIOT NOISE FRIDAY SPOTLIGHT 🪩 Let's talk about Ed Philips. Ed worked with us recently on our first writing camp and it has been incredible to collaborate with him. Ed began his musical journey when he was just 17, writing and producing alongside Fred (again) and Hen (Joy Anonymous). From this he has worked with artists like RAYE, earning her first place in the Top40 chart and created campaign audio for luxury brands Burberry and Off White. Ed has an artist project @sidthestone that launched in 2020 with a mixtape Inside/Outside. He co-produced and wrote several tracks for Kurupt FMs album 'Greatest Hits Vol.1' which was a TOP 10 UK album in 2021!! He also has upcoming co-productions with Zed Bias - they've just started a label together! 💥 We are really looking forward to seeing what we can do together in the future 🔥🔥🔥
